About The
Book

There are many diet philosophies; one of those philosophies is the "constant carbohydrate" meal plan. Since 100% of the carbohydrates from fruit, starch/bread, and milk raise the blood sugar, it is important to eat the same amount of carbohydrates around the same time each day.  By doing this, we hope to form a scheduled/pattern of sugar levels.  We will then know how much insulin to give to turn these foods into energy without running into problems of hypo- or hyperglycemia.
The Constant Carbohydrate Diet is one of the most used programs for people with Type I diabetes in the United States, and has been successfully used for over 25 years.
"Your Daily Meal Plan" is a color chart that uses an exchange system to simplify meal planning.  Each food item is assigned an exchange value, which can be charted to track carbohydrate intake.
The Constant Carbohydrate Meal Plan is not only for the person with diabetes, but it is also a well-balanced diet that the whole family can follow, there is no need to cook any differently for the child with diabetes.
